How Come Casinos In Nevada Take Real Coins, When Casinos In Other States Take Only Tokens?

I have been to casinos in California, West Virginia, Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, and Nevada. Nevada is the only one that you can put real nickels, dimes, and quarters in, and get real coins back when you win. Why is that?

  • No waiting to exchange the money or anything.
  • So, perhaps they do that so more people gamble for longer periods of time.
  • I remember the plastic buckets and then you would have to get all of the tokens from the bin piece and then take them to the cashier to cash out.
  • Maybe they do that so it is easier to gamble.
  • If you don't have to get tokens to play, you can play longer and you can play the second you arrive.
  • There's a casino in southern Indiana that used to do the tokens when you'd win on the slot machines.
    • Or, they just don't care what form it comes in as long as people are spending ;-)
    • Now they've changed to the paper slips.
    • I think that within the next five years there will be very few machines left that take real coins or pay out in coins. It is also easy to print out tickets that you can use in other machines or just cash out.
    • That way its easier to take your winnings from one machine to the other!
      • The tokens were ALWAYS dirty.
      • Coins are dirty, they are inconvenient to carry around in large quantities, they can jam in the machines, and it is far easier for the casinos to set the machines to accept paper money.
