My Son Collects Yu-Gi-Oh Cards But Doesnt Know How To Play Game, Is Difficult?

My 10 year old son has collected tons of Yu-Gi-Oh cards but doesnt know how to play, he just wants to collect the cards, and throws the Game Mat and Instructions away! Is it very difficult to play this game? Do most kids just collect and swop the cards and not play against each other? Which is the quickest way of teaching him the game if we both have learning difficulties?

I never liked playing the game, I think it's just a phase free video strip poker game. Don't worry about it. If you're concerned about your son getting addicted to buying these cards why not try and get him into something less expensive or a weekly magazine or comic that he can look forward to rather than buying every time you're out shopping.

- Its fairly simple, the game.
- If your son goes to a school that has kids playing yu-gi-oh, he can just watch the other kids play, than he'll get a general idea.
- Or, you can go to a local tournament and watch others play too.
- maybe they can help.
- lots of kids like to collect and play yu-gi-oh.
- I like to play the game, and I learned it in like 5 minutes just from watching.
- Basically, its like this.
- Turn where you draw a card.
- You place down magic/trap cards, and monsters, activate any magic cards you have.
- But you have to put a trap card down before activating it.
- This is when you attack your opponent (his monster or him directly)
- Do any thing else you can (activate magic or trap cards, summon monster if you didn't already, etc.)
- Basically, you end your turn.
- Just repeat that with your opponent until somebody loses their life points.
- Rule books and Game mats are recommended, but as you get better, its better to just memorize those parts.
- Well, good luck!

Then read the rules. My boys love it and have done some local tournaments - there are some really obscure rules on which order some complex cards get used - but unless you have really obscure cards and are playing seriously then the difficult stuff doesn't really matter.

My 9 year old son went through a phase of collecting them and drove me mad by trying to learn the rules. Even my husband couldn't figure out all the rules and he's a member of MENSA.I was glad when my son lost interest in them. Just let your son enjoy collecting them and he'll soon move on to something else.you don't need the mat.you do need the instructions.the game is easy to play, but the rules are confusing. if you don't plan on goign to big tournaments, then it's a pretty easy game.most kids play the game, since it's more fun.the quickest way to learn is to watch the show (seriously). watching the show will show you how it's played.or you could just go to that website and play the demo
